THE SILENT RULER

Proverbs 21: 1 “….. The king’s heart is in the hands of the Lord, as the rivers of water, and he turneth it whither so ever he wills”

INTRODUCTION:

Most kings, rulers, or leaders seat in power and are in full control in running and handling the affairs of their nations, institutions, and domestic set-ups, but God is the Silent Ruler behind the scenes. The Lord works in ways we don’t understand and cannot see. That is why the heart of leaders is shifted to and fro as the rivers of water. The invisibility and mysteriousness with which he works in people’s lives (both saved and unsaved) makes him the remote control ruler.

The popular saying that empty barrels make the most noise makes His Silent moves more appreciated meanwhile his ways are unseen, inaudible, and yet revelatory. God is always at work in affairs of leaders,Kings, to willingly or reluctantly bring His enemies down and glorify His holy name in the lives of His people.

EXAMPLES OF GOD’S REMOTE RULE THROUGH LEADERS.

1. Joseph in Potiphar’s house. (Genesis 45: 5,7-8)

Though he initially suffered adversity, God used him to preserve many lives, families, and even nations.

2. Moses in the house of Pharaoh.

His adoption as a baby by Pharaoh’s daughter and the remuneration of the biological mother to care for him is purely the finger of God at work programmed towards the salvation of suffering Israel in the land of bondage.

3. AN EXCEPTION(Jesus Christ, savior of the world)

Light steps into darkness

God in Christ was reconciling the world to Himself through the deaf, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ of mankind from bondage, slavery unto Himself

UNDERSTANDING THE PRE-DETERMINED PURPOSE OF THE SILENT RULER i.e. GOD

God as a spirit must work in man whether pleasant or unpleasant to accomplish His purposes meant towards benefiting man and His kingdom. When He is at work through us and in us, it contradicts and resists our self will, making it frustrating to us as humans is more often than not, not in line with the answering our prayers. Beneath are some of the reasons to be mentioned,

* God allows discomfort, problems, and delays in our ways to accomplish His will.
* In our confusion of pain and state of shock, God acts and moves by initiating His purposes and plans
* He starts anywhere, any time with anybody, but finishes (it could be a familiar or an unfamiliar terrain)
* He makes us discover finally in our tribulation that it wasn’t easy but it was worth it
* He makes our corruptible body conform to His incorruption

In salvation in Christ everyone gets planted in God and this condition is spiritual I its entirety, which must be allowed to travel its full course, beginning from the inevitable stage of adversity, and ending up finally in a state of prosperity bringing the glory to God. The gap between the planting up to the prosperity stage of every Christian is uncertain and is solely known by God almighty. He deliberately allows us who believe in Jesus Christ to go through the unpleasant of negative surprises so we can rely and place our trust, our mind, our might, our heart, our focus on Him alone. By this when all hope is lost on depending on ‘the arm of flesh’, then we look up to Him alone and He God now seeing we are helpless, and have nowhere to turn to will stretch out His hand and save us. In (1 Peter 5:10) the bible says that “… But the God of all grace who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that he have suffered a while make you perfect, stablish, strengthen and settle you”

One of the many ways in being used by the Silent Ruler (God) is as follows:

* Call (sets you apart)
* Makes you suffer a while
* Makes you perfect
* Establish, use and settle you

An example we can refer to is David, the son of Jesse. After being anointed with oil by a prophet Samuel to be king, God allowed him to go through tribulation, persecution, the threat of death for his life by King Saul who displaced God. The Lord who knows the end from the beginning knew the outcome of empowering the shepherd boy whiles the rejected king Saul was still on the throne. So God, allowed David who was planted in Gods house but had to go through the laid down standards of Godly discipline before beginning to flourish in the courts of God.( Psalm 92:13) bible says “… those that be planted in the house of God shall flourish in courts of our God.” Note the word ‘planted in the house of God’ and note the word ‘shall flourish in the courts of our God’. You don’t just jump to flourishing in the courts of a king’s palace when you are not planted in Gods house. One comes before the other.

LESSONS TO LEARN:

David , Joseph and the rest who placed God stuck to certain Godly principles and character traits that you and I may easily frown upon or mock at since we think we are smarter than they are but those virtues are still working for those who cling to the ‘old rugged cross’.

The virtues are many but we will maintain a few. When in adversity whiles you are born again and you facing persecution like David encountering internal conflict, troubles, internally like Joseph and His brothers, apply the following:

o Submit to Gods will
o Be humble( 1 Peter 5:6)
o Trust in God’s word
o Be steadfast in faith
o Fear God (reverential fear) (Proverbs 22:4)
o Be sober and vigilant
o Wait upon the Lord (Isaiah 40:31)
o Endure the suffering ( 2 Timothy 2:3)( 1 Peter 5: 10b)
o Show kindness to others
o Pray without ceasing
o Associate with Godly people(Psalm 1:1-6)

In ending, my message to all who believe and trust in Christ Jesus must learn that God is still firmly seated on the throne. Therefore, no matter what Christians go through, those conditions are meant to build, teach, encourage, strengthen, edify, and prepare them for a glorious future and not to destroy them, even though initially things look unpleasant. The Bible in (Jeremiah 29:11) states “…for I know the thought that I think towards you says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

So with their heart in the hands of God whatever kings , rulers, leaders, heads of institutions do in authority, it is the ultimate will of God that shall stand because he turneth the heart of kings whither so ever he willeth.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL
