God Is Dead
God Is Dead
Friedrich Nietzsche is notable for having declared that God is dead and for having written several of his works in the presumption that man must find a new mode of being given the demise of God. We seldom hear of that last preoccupation that drove Nietzsche. This brilliant German philosopher was a man ahead of his time. Why do I say that? We are now witnessing that new understanding of the God that primarily RELIGION killed.
The God of Nietzsche’s days is dead. But, who was that God and who killed Him-Her-It?
I know, using the word IT loses a lot of the emotional and subjective meaning that we humans must have. It bothers me; however, if I don’t throw it in every now and then, I’ll get stuck in the sympathetic swamp of anthropomorphic overkill that led us to the straw-man God in the first place.
Nietzsche wasn’t comfortable with the ineffectiveness of the naive and popular God to which people prayed to that was OUT THERE somewhere. Nor was his philosophical insights capable or rationalizing or making sense of this God that religion had created with all the rules, rituals, and hierarchy that kept us at bay from the throne of this Being.
Have you ever been there?
In other words, Nietzsche simply couldn’t buy in to the DUALISM that the scientific revolution had proven was impossible to uphold. Nietzsche could not see how a God OUT THERE with a different SUBSTANCE than we DOWN HERE. How was it possible for these two substances to intertwine? What was the signals, means of communications that would feasibly and rationally work? The religious answer of prayer and the Holy Spirit weren’t answer he could accept.
Eleven score and a few years after his death, we now know!
Quantum physics is not even allowing the most determined materialistic scientists to hide. DUALISM is what’s DEAD: not the God, and it’s been replaced by a TRUE image of God that our increased consciousness is producing. We’re not completely there, but we’re a long way from the GRAVE of DUALISM. Quantum physics allows even the most hardened materialist to see the immanence and transcendence of Consciousness. Consciousness (God) is primacy.
God is ALIVE as long as you’re not still worshipping at the altar of the God of DUALISM!
As a spiritual-futurist, I have a BA degree majoring in history. One cannot know the future without knowing the past which holds clues to what is on the horizon. The world is in such a rapid expansion of knowledge that we are close to entering a tipping point that will forever change earth as we know it.
Through God?S Goodness Your Sins Are Forgiven Part Ii
Through God?S Goodness Your Sins Are Forgiven Part Ii
In the first part of this two part series we talked about how, because of God’s goodness, all of our sins past, present and future are already forgiven through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. I showed you how you can get rid of you feelings of guilt and condemnation by simply walking towards the light and not away from it and the importance of changing your direction. In this second part I will show you what God says about your sins and encourage you to focus on His promises.
It is my prayer that the Holy Spirit will encourage you and give you comfort by revealing the scripture that we will talk about in this article and make them so very real to you.
Change Your Focus
Do not focus on your sin!
Isn’t it true that the world encourages us to sin, and the church many times encourages us not to sin? In both situations our focus is directed towards sin.
If you are a committed believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, of course you will not give in to the temptations of this world. It is much more dangerous if you hear over and over again the warnings: Don’t sin! Don’t do this and don’t do that.
Why, because your focus is directed towards sin. And as we saw in my first article, to focus on sin means turning and walking away from the light where there is no shadow and no darkness. Don’t concentrate on sin but concentrate on Jesus. If your focus is constantly on sin and you tell yourself day in and day out: don’t do this, don’t do that, then you are focussing on the source of your guilt and condemnation but not on the source of your victory and deliverance.
Please don’t get me wrong here. I am not playing the seriousness of sin down. I am not soft on sin, but I want to be soft on people like you who are hurting from the results of sin. I want to help people that are being held hostage by self-condemnation, shame and spiritual inferiority. That’s why you should sign up for “My Spiritual Support Newsletter”.
So, please, for your own sake do not focus on your sin and your weaknesses but turn your eyes upon Jesus. In and through Him you are more than a conqueror.
You can’t out sin God!
Romans 5:20 (New Living Translation): “God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant.”
You know that you have sinned. You might have sinned big. But God is telling you right now that His love for you is far greater than your sins – much, much greater! He lives within you with all of His power and glory. He enables you to live a victorious Christian life. He is saying to you: “My grace and mercy, my love and my goodness are so much greater than your sins can ever be!”
That’s why I say that you just can’t out sin the love of God!
No more condemnation!
Romans 8:1 (Amplified)
Therefore, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the Spirit.
If you have an attitude of self-condemnation you are diminishing the finished work of Jesus by punishing yourself for your own sins. Self-condemnation assumes, that if you punish yourself hard and long enough, if you are sorry enough, if you feel bad enough than God will forgive you.
That would mean that you actually can do something in order to be forgiven. But you can’t do anything to earn God’s mercy, His goodness and His grace. NOTHING! The Bible declares that Jesus came to “put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.”
And He succeeded. On the cross He cried out “It is finished”! There is nothing you can do or have to do on your own.
If you confess your sin once, you receive forgiveness once and for all. And then there is no more condemnation on God’s part and there should be no self-condemnation on your part.
God does not remember your sins anymore
Hebrews 8:12 and 10:17 makes the same statement: “And I will be
Why We Don’t Pray
Why We Don’t Pray
Lately, I have been hearing this discussed more and more.
Prayer is work, no doubt about it.
But prayer works, no doubt about that either!
Why, then, would any Christian in his right mind, neglect to go to the Lord in prayer?
Especially when we realize that our dear Lord has put absolutely no limitations on what we may pray for, why indeed?
The sky is the limit for us, folks, and so why, why, why don’t we pray?
The very simple answer is that we simply do not believe that our prayers will be answered. That’s it!
Of course, we are right in a lot of cases!
What, you say?
There are some reasons why the Lord will not even hear your prayer, much less answer it. So listen up . . . this is very liberating!
The very first reason why the Lord does not hear is because we are harboring unforgiveness, bitterness, or resentment in our hearts. As the Bible says, we must first leave the altar and be reconciled to your brother, and then come back to pray. Matthew 5:23-24.
Another reason is that you may be harboring sin in your heart. That is, you have a habit or an addiction in direct conflict with the Word of God. You must purify your heart!
And yet another reason why the Lord will not hear your prayer is because you are neglecting to do something that the Lord has directed you to do and that you know in your heart that you should do.
Still another reason is that you fail to approach the throne with boldness and exercise the dominion and authority which has been bestowed upon you as a child of God.
There may be other reasons also, but to keep this brief, you cannot go to the Lord and expect to get your prayers heard when you never have established a personal relationship with Him. He is not a vending machine to be used at will. No!
Since we have been created in His image, we know that He has feelings, just as we do. He wants us to show love for Him, just as He does for us. Ask yourself, isn’t it a whole lot easier to expect to get a favor from a close friend than from a total stranger?
So first be sure that your prayer is really being heard. And then be sure that it is in accord with His will. And if you really know His Word, you already know His will. It is no great mystery.
Then, after all our ducks are lined up, we can be sure, beyond any shadow of doubt, that He will answer our prayer. He cannot deny us, or He would have to lie, and He cannot do that. He is total Truth, through and through.
The “trick,” if you want to call it that, is being tenacious in our faith. After all, if we got instantaneous answers all the time (and sometimes that happens), where would faith come in? Faith is knowing and believing that the object of our prayer, as we stand praying and believing, is created in the spiritual dimension as soon as it escapes our lips.
It’s just like planting seeds in the ground. We do not see the results immediately, but if we have planted them in good ground and if we feed and water and nurture them, the end plant will soon start to be visible. It was in there all the time, but hidden!
Prayer time should be alive with excitement and anticipation!

Acts 15: 1-6
John 15: 1-8
Psalm 122
In the name of God: The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
It is in Love, through the Church, Worship, and prayer; it is in Love, through acts of mercy, charity, and deeds for others; it is in Love, through following the poor and chaste Christ through the Church year—where we come to know and live in the way of Christ. This is called the Christian life. What this life entails is narrated through the Bible, in specific The New Testament. On this day we are reminded again that God seeks us in Love.
Our reading from John 15: 1-8 says directly:
“I am the true vine, and my father is the vinegrower. He removes every branch in me that bears no fruit. Every branch that bears fruit he prunes to make it bear more fruit. You have already been cleansed by the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me…”
My life as an Oblate, received by the Camaldolese monastic order of St. Benedict 15 years ago, has opened to me a life lived as offering to God. Sometimes I think of it as Samson in the Bible who lived under a vow, and think that called by God I’ve responded and may hold a special fervor for Christ and Church, to abide in God and continue the Divine Call that brought me to live in the world as the Oblate does, rather than in a monastery, as does the Monk. This is a life of abiding in Christ, abiding in God, and a radical giving over to a more religious life.
One preached retreat at Immaculate Heart Hermitage in Big Sur, California where Brother Bead spoke of The Rule of Saint Benedict, I realized that this Holy Book was an excellence direction and resource for living life in a full. It is a directed way that is common to the monastic community of which I am a part. Having chosen to center my life around the daily office and worship and prayer, my interest is in living with the Parish as a centerpiece for life. With its many Biblical references and references to the Psalm in The Rule, I am helped in my direction for abiding in a manner consistent with John’s, “Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me…”
Living with others in community, as I live the Parish life, and the monastic life in the world, I, like you, follow the poor, chaste Christ through the year.
“Me in thee, thee in me.”
Love binds us.
We are friends in Christ.
That Christ invites us: it is an enormous hospitality of God that is extended anew through Christ. We are invited, and this is Grace–for we are accepted.
Like Dame Julian of Norwich, we learn the Lord’s meaning that is brought to us through divine longing.
Love is his meaning.
Who shows it to us: Love.
What is shown: Love.
Why was it shown: Love.
We learn that Love is our Lord’s meaning.
Christ in the Bible, Christ in the Church Fathers, Christ in the Church guides us. Though we may have different approaches and needs, we are united in Christ. For example, as a contemplative, I seek Union with God. This is an unknowing knowing. One lives with the contradictions, lives with the questions of Christ and those of the Church. This includes those mysteries that we find in the Bible.
The invitation to God is the result of God’s love, not our love of God. Humans cannot be so perfect as to regard God in a manner as He regards humans. Though we bless God “for our creation, preservation, / and all the blessing of this life; but above all for your immeasurable love/ in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus
Trust His Care and Psalm 65
Trust His Care and Psalm 65
Psalm 65 reads as follows from the NIV version of the Bible:
1 Listen to my prayer, O God,
do not ignore my plea;
2 hear me and answer me.
My thoughts trouble me and I am distraught
3 because of what my enemy is saying,
because of the threats of the wicked;
for they bring down suffering on me
and assail me in their anger.
4 My heart is in anguish within me;
the terrors of death have fallen on me.
5 Fear and trembling have beset me;
horror has overwhelmed me.
6 I said, “Oh, that I had the wings of a dove!
I would fly away and be at rest.
7 I would flee far away
and stay in the desert;
8 I would hurry to my place of shelter,
far from the tempest and storm.”
9 Lord, confuse the wicked, confound their words,
for I see violence and strife in the city.
10 Day and night they prowl about on its walls;
malice and abuse are within it.
11 Destructive forces are at work in the city;
threats and lies never leave its streets.
12 If an enemy were insulting me,
I could endure it;
if a foe were rising against me,
I could hide.
13 But it is you, one like myself,
my companion, my close friend,
14 with whom I once enjoyed sweet fellowship
at the house of God,
as we walked about
among the worshipers.
15 Let death take my enemies by surprise;
let them go down alive to the realm of the dead,
for evil finds lodging among them.
16 As for me, I call to God,
and the LORD saves me.
17 Evening, morning and noon
I cry out in distress,
and he hears my voice.
18 He rescues me unharmed
from the battle waged against me,
even though many oppose me.
19 God, who is enthroned from of old,
who does not change—
he will hear them and humble them,
because they have no fear of God.
20 My companion attacks his friends;
he violates his covenant.
21 His talk is smooth as butter,
yet war is in his heart;
his words are more soothing than oil,
yet they are drawn swords.
22 Cast your cares on the LORD
and he will sustain you;
he will never let
the righteous be shaken.
23 But you, God, will bring down the wicked
into the pit of decay;
the bloodthirsty and deceitful
will not live out half their days.
But as for me, I trust in you.
From verse 3 and 4 in this psalm, it speaks of being overwhelmed by sins, and this could also be problems, situations that just seem to take on an overwhelming nature in a given person’s life, yet these people who are overwhelmed are near to God and are chosen and brought to his courts all of which doesn’t exempt them from the existence of overwhelming problems in their lives which need to be addressed in the prayer relationship..
Anything that characterizes as overwhelming God has an answer for. This being overwhelmed is not necessarily a static or ongoing situation that just festers, but it could be something that comes on suddenly, bursting into our lives, intruding on the calm and bringing about new and unforeseen difficulties, where we are overwhelmed in that very moment and need to seek and speak to God in that very moment. .
Verses 3 and 4 say,” When we were overwhelmed by sins, you forgave our transgressions, “Blessed are those who you choose and bring near to live in your courts!
We are filled with the good things of your house, and of your holy temple.
The word live in this verse gives credence to the real time aspects of prayer, there are problems that we are living with and we are looking for livable solutions in the here and now to this problems. A TV show might be Live, there is not additional takes or rehearsals. We to might not get the chance for a rehearsal or an additional take on some situations we face and we count on God’s nearness which has live aspects, just like live TV. And then the ongoing problems or sins that seems to overwhelm us or just
Is It Meditation or Prayer
Is It Meditation or Prayer
While at the cash register the woman who was checking me out and I started a conversation about how to reduce stress. I suggested that meditation can reduce stress in our lives. The woman said that she didn’t have time, because she worked two jobs. I said during your break go outside and consciously watch and monitor your breathing. Consciously watch the breath coming into the chest, and slowly releasing your breath on exhalation. That was in itself meditation, and would help in reducing stress. She then stated that she knew about meditation, and that all she needed to do was to read scripture, and concentrate on the messages from God for her. I had lost the conversation because she didn’t truly understand the concept of meditation. Our conversation also revealed to me that she had intertwined and confused meditation with prayer.
Meditation and Prayer have often been used interchangeable. Are they the same, or is there some difference between the two? Webster’s ® Dictionary defines meditation as focusing one’s thoughts; to reflect on or ponder over; to plan or project the mind with intention or purpose. Prayer is to entreat, implore, often used as a function word in introducing a question, a request, or plea. Already the differences are that mediation is reflective, and prayer requires action. Why do people get confused? It is true both require silence, and both are personal. My belief is that many people do not understand prayer or meditation.
Prayer involves actively seeking help from God, or some sort of spiritual deity, a higher power. The most powerful and most well know prayer is one that is as simple as “God help me.” The words of a prayer can also be in the form of a hymn, an incantation or an utterance from the person seeking answers to his life’s problem. Praying throughout the day and seeking guidance as the day progresses is another form of prayer. Ultimately prayer is a communicative relationship between the created and the creator, and can be incorporated into the daily “thought life.”
People will often confuse the two and decide that meditation and prayer are transposable. Meditation and prayer are very similar in nature, especially individual prayer. For prayer to work usually requires solitude and quiet, but not always. For meditation to work effectively the requirements are usually solitude and quiet. As we can see those are the similarities of the two, and yes both can be achieved within a group. The differences lie in the outcome, and intention of the person performing the prayer or the meditation. Prayer can often turn into mediation, but meditation cannot turn into prayer.
Meditation requires quieting the mind through your breath, or mantra, the mystical formula of invocation or incantation said during meditation to quiet the mind. There are many varieties of mantras and there is not one better than any of the others. These mantras have meaning, and guide the mind and health of each individual. Some mantras are as simple as “om”, others are “I am” and “so hum.” What matters is that the person who is meditating gets to the place where there is nothing, or the place right between the in breath and the exhalation of breath. The goal is to communicate with one’s soul.
In prayer there are many kinds of prayers such as; morning, evening, praying over meals and prayer with physical gestures. There are many ways to pray, Christians bow their heads, Native Americans dance. Sufis whirl. Hindus Chant. Orthodox Jews sway their bodies back and forth. The Quakers keep silent. The varieties of prayer are endless, and they encounter every religious group. In understanding prayer there are many approaches. Prayer is communication between an individual or group to a spiritual deity. Prayer is answered on a spiritual schedule, one without hour hands or calendars.
The person who prays, has a belief that they will receive an answer. The prayer is intended to inculcate certain attitudes in the one who prays, rather than to influence the recipient. The prayer is intended to affect the very fabric of reality itself. The recipient expects, believes, or appreciates prayer when the

Please do not feel that you have to be of indigenous or tribal heritage to participate! Anyone of any faith or religion is welcome to participate and pray in your own way whether you are making the prayer ties or not. We all pray to the same Creator, so please join us in prayer for this event!
Making Prayer Ties
Prayer ties are spiritual focusing tools used by indigenous people for many centuries. They are considered to be a physical offering and representation to carry the energy of prayers to the Creator and Spirit World. The making of Prayer Ties is a ceremony within itself and should be done with much reverence, respect, and be treated as Sacred.
The method and ceremony of prayer tie making may differ from culture to culture or from tribe to tribe. There are many ways to engage in this sacred practice. Presented here is one way you can practice this ritual.
Materials you will need: Natural fabric, cotton works best. No synthetics please. The color we will be using for this event will be green to represent the Healing of Earth Mother. Cotton/natural string, tobacco, sage (or other smudging herbs such as cedar, sweetgrass, etc.) for smudging yourself and your supplies. Smudging is an important part of healing prayers and ceremonies and is also protective for you and your ceremonial space. Smudging will remove negative energy, and will invite positive, healing spirits. You will want to keep your smudge burning during the entire time you are making your prayer ties. (**see note on smudging below)
Begin by cutting your green cloth in about 2-½” x 2-½” squares. Size does not need to be exact. In the tradition I am using prayer ties should be made in multiples of 7. Make any number you wish in multiples of 7, i.e., 7, 14, 21, 28, etc.
After you have cut the squares, take a pinch of tobacco and place your tobacco in the center of a square of fabric. Fold the fabric over to make what looks like a little ghost, tie it at the top just above the pinch of tobacco, using your string to hold the pinch of tobacco in place.
With each pinch of tobacco you place in a prayer tie you will want to be speaking your prayers of healing for Earth Mother and all living beings of Earth Mother. It is very important that you stay focused on positive, healing prayers and energy while making your prayer ties and speaking your prayers with each tie you make. String your prayer ties together on one continuous string.
When you have finished making your string of prayer ties, tie your string to a tree or other relation where they will not be disturbed or removed. You will want to leave them tied on the tree and undisturbed until they naturally disintegrate.
Many blessings—
Shelley (Mountain Water Woman)
**Smudging is a very simple practice and because it is done with intention and belief it becomes a very powerful ritual. Ponder your intention prior to smudging and hold it clearly in your mind. You can also call upon the spirit of the smudging herb you are using as well as your helper spirits or deity to assist you with your intention.

Prayer and Compassionate Healing
Prayer and Compassionate Healing
Larry Dossey, MD, took a leap of faith fifteen years ago when he wrote the book “Healing Words,” about the power of prayer to heal.
The only study to prove the power of prayer to heal at that time was done by a cardiologist names Randolf Byrd. He prayed for half of his patients and left the other half prayer-less.
The control group didn’t fare as well as the group Byrd prayed for.
This was the study that inspired Larry Dossey to begin praying for his patients.
Dossey describes his upbringing as Fundamentalist Christian in a Texan community, which he later rejected. By the time he was a doctor, he rebelled against any form of prayer or anything at all having to do with religion.
But the Byrd data provoked an inner change of direction for Dossey.
He decided to incorporate prayer into his daily morning ritual.
He said he locked himself in his office, brought out the incense and shamanistic rattles, as he calls it, and started actively saying unconditional prayers for the well being of his patients.
After these rituals, he felt well. He began to know that the world of medicine was much more than drugs and strict medical interventions.
Oprah asked Larry Dossey what was the single experience that led him to the work he is doing now.
Dossey explained the time he had an emergency appendectomy and was rushed to surgery without ever meeting his surgeon or anesthesiologist. When the surgery was done, he woke up fearfully and in tremendous pain.
A nurse saw his distress as she was walking by and stopped to take his hand.
She said soothingly, “Don’t worry, Larry. Everything is going to be OK!”
Larry’s pain instantly vanished. He remembers feeling confident that he would get better. The fear he felt a moment before receded.
At this point, Larry and Oprah briefly discuss the role of nurse as healer.
Oprah said, “Nurses are healers but are called nurses instead.”
Dossey remembers the experience with the nurse healer as pivotal as to why he embarked on the journey he is now on: researching the healing effect of prayer on his patients.
Twenty-one studies have been done since the Byrd study, proving the power of prayer to heal.
Medical students are now taught about these experiments in their education. Prayer in medicine has reached the mainstream.
There is no turning back.
Dossey says that one person sending compassionate loving thoughts to a person across the planet is just as effective as if she was praying by the bedside.
This is called distant healing, distant prayer.
One of the most remarkable examples of this kind of distant prayer, according to Dossey, was done on a group of women at an Infertility Clinic in Seoul, Korea. One half of the patients were prayed for and the other half were not.
Again, those prayed for had twice the pregnancy rate as the half who were not the recipients of prayer.
Oprah asked, “How does prayer work?”
“No one knows,” said Dossey.
Another interesting factor: it matters not if ten or more people prays for you or if one person prays for you, as long as the prayers are authentically done with a compassionate heart.
Quality not quantity is the key to good solid results.
Prayer without the need to control outcome, with an attitude of surrender, of Thy Will Be Done, are the prayers having the most import. Prayer done fearfully with a desperate, bargaining with God mentality do not have any effect. These prayers are called Fox Hole prayers, the “get me out alive and I’ll go to church every Sunday for the rest of my life” kind of prayer.
Fear and desperation are low vibrational energies that are best left in the trash heap of the psyche.
Prayer done with a vibration of love and compassionate has a high fast moving vibrational frequency that transforms rather than distorts, heals rather than harms.
Larry Dossey said that studying the effects of prayer in health led him away from the

The Incredible Power of Prayer to Protect, to Guide and to Save Lives
The Incredible Power of Prayer to Protect, to Guide and to Save Lives
Prayer is the act of communicating with a god or spirit in worship. It is also called a devout petition to God or an object of worship.
Prayer has since the history of mankind been one of the most powerful methods to bring about results. Prayers come in different degrees of intensity and definition. A ‘desperate prayer’ to save a life, perhaps yours or someone else’s, is one type of request. A prayer can also be a simple ‘prayer of gratitude.’ I am the beneficiary of the “incredible” power of prayer. I will describe my experiences so that you may embrace prayer in your life, and never feel timid to use it for your daily needs and those of others.
Before Christians formed their religion, most of their prayers were derived from the Old Testament. Jesus taught his disciples to pray the “Lord’s Prayer.” It was then that people heard the words, “Our Father, who art in heaven,…” This special prayer became the prayer of his disciples and future masses of Christians to employ for the rest of their lives. All religions today have their own unique prayers used for a variety of reasons, for example: weddings, baptisms, bar mitzvah, funerals, the very sick, and many more.
I will explain how to pray for your protection, and of your loved ones and friends. I will also provide you with guidance in times of confusion and despair, especially during these times of economic downfall, loss of income and home foreclosure for many families in the U.S.
Prayer, in a similar sense, works like holy water. At the beginning you are not sure if anyone is listening to you, or that holy water will do anything for you. When you ask the Lord for help, you might not have faith that your prayers will be answered, and that is okay! But, if your petition is made for an honest and legitimate reason, you will receive. If you need a job and you have tried your best to find one and have had no success, ask God to help you find a job that is adequate for you. If you are totally broke and need money to pay bills, ask God to get the money for you. If you make all your requests with courage and determination, you will get the results that you are seeking. Faith will follow!
When I travel in the U.S. or to a foreign country, I pray for God to deliver me and the rest of the people in the plane. On the recent accident in the Atlantic Ocean of the Airbus going from Rio de Janeiro to Paris, what choice did the passengers and crew members have while the plane was on a “disaster course?” They had none, except to say a short prayer before they all perished–if they actually had any time at all to pray! Will that accident stop people from traveling? I do not think so, and we will continue to expose our lives to the laws of nature, and to errors committed by human beings.
If we have to go anywhere long distance, we are required to travel by air, automobile, train, bus or ship, and get on with our lives. We cannot stop a drunk driver from getting on the road and causing an accident; anymore than we can avoid ‘gigantic’ tropical storms in the Atlantic from happening. Prayer then is the best method to ask for many sorts of help from God, and perhaps it is the only way.
The following illustrations are provided for your benefit when utilizing prayer in your life. We all want a safe and abundant life for ourselves, our loved ones and friends. Prayer has worked for me and for many people in the world for centuries, and it will also work for you!
I will show you examples where my prayers have been answered time and time again.
1) Remember these words, and say them in silence or out-loud whenever you need to: “Lord, please help me,” anytime that you need urgent help. God cannot refuse to come to your rescue. You will either be sent an angel to intercede in your behalf, or a human being will come to help you. In other instances, events and situations will change for your benefit that would otherwise have had a negative or tragic impact on your life, and that of your loved ones and friends. In the meanwhile, you are totally unaware of anything that is happening around you.
Example: I was in Buenos Aires one evening, and I was stranded waiting for

Proverbs 3:5-8 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
Read in Context – This includes reading previous and latter verses and/or chapters, understanding the characters involved, the setting, as well as the audience. I.e. Paul is sometimes speaking to Jews, and sometimes both Jews and Gentiles are in the audience.
Strong’s Concordance – This will show us where a word, such as Spirit, is elsewhere in scripture. It also gives a number that is related to the Hebrew word (Old testament) or Greek word (New Testament). Note: Sometimes the same word will have different meanings.
Strong’s Lexicon (definitions) – This is in my top 5 tools. This is a must in my opinion. It gives the definition of the Hebrew and Greek words. But more importantly, we will see via the Strong’s concordance that some words have 2 meanings. Unless we have this information, we may not understand the scripture correctly.
Multiple Bibles – I’m always asked, “What is a good bible to buy?” I always say more the merrier. I’m partial to the KJV and NKJV. Those 2 together have done me well. When something in the KJV can’t fully be grasped, I’ll check it in the NKJV (or vice versa). Sometimes, I’ll open up a 3rd and 4th version too. There are some parallel bibles out there that have 2-4 versions within the same book. The easier to read bibles, in my humble opinion, change meanings too much. They are very good for those that are having a hard time with the KJV, but they should not be our only bible.
Study the Bible (not ‘reading’) – There is a big difference between studying the bible and reading it. Sometimes I catch myself reading the bible to get my daily read in. But then I get done, and I have no idea what I just read. It’s because I’m reading as it is the right thing to do (works). 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Note: It is very dangerous to preempt our reading with wanting an answer on something. When doing this, we will almost always find the answer we want to hear. Yes, God definitely will speak to us via His word. Just be very watchful on this. Sometimes we will find exactly what we desire to find. It may be ourselves answering and not necessarily be God speaking to us.
Prayer – This is another in my top 5 tools that I don’t do enough of. Before reading, I suggest praying for the Holy Spirit to fill us up and give guidance on the Word. Let us ask the Lord to speak to us, write the word on our hearts, and to help us study. Afterward, pray the same with thanksgiving and ask for the seeds of God that were planted to be protected from the enemy. A good addition to the prayer: “Lord, your word says that it will not return to you void and it will do what it is sent forth to accomplish. I thank you Lord for this promise.” (Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.)
Holy Spirit – This is my #1 tool. Guide us Guider, teach us Teacher, and help us Helper. John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Note: If you are struggling with a specific scripture or are getting pulled in 2 different directions by doctrinal warfare of denominationalism, then go away from the topic and pray for the Holy Spirit to teach it. I have had some major topics not understood until almost a year later, and the topic is still being taught. If we’re caught in such a trap and something is confusing, causing a struggle, turmoil, etc., I suggest to surrender it to God and cease from seeking man’s opinion about it. Pray for the

Prayer that helps now
They speak of the power of the pen, for example, someone writing a review of a show, concert, play or movies might be able to help the body politic in reaching the audience of many.
Who set up this system?
The members of God’s inner circle would also hold some power as being useful towards getting things done in the realm of prayer.
How powerful is prayer anyway? Is prayer just one of many things I would do, a lineup of things I could do? Taking maybe part of a scene over the landscape that I am observing or is it an infinite landscape involving the totality of everything I am observing.
I could imagine a prayer extending into the distant sky, although I do believe God is as close as the breath I take. In effect, we believe we are doing that when we send say prayers for someone say in India from the States. But God is also as close to them as the breath they take. No matter who you are praying for, or where they are, or who they know, God is the closest to them. Including yourself, God is closer to you than you are to yourself.
Which brings to question what the proper vantage point for prayer is?
I am sitting here, looking across a waterway on a road about a mile or two away and those boats, trucks, and cars going by do look smaller than they would at a few yards distance. But that is only my perspective from this distance.
An observer of a low flying plane has another vantage point of a landscape than one could have obtained before the beginnings of manned flight. It might be advantageous and it might help in gaining perspective to obtain another vantage point. You could never see yourself as an objective observer from a distance, but it might at times be an advantage if you could say observe yourself from across a room talking to someone.
Sometimes an answer to a situation would involve the obtaining of additional vantage points.
Part of the reason for this is I might be following systems that have already been established and I put my trust in these systems. I’m following the lead of some system that is ahead of me, a new set up or the way things have been set up. I need to catch up and catch on.
An example of this might be the latest computer software system,. Another system might be that I go someplace, put hours on the clock in exchange for specific remunerations. This is seemingly represented as a safe corner, because it has some predictability, and I feel I am guaranteed by repeating this process, that I’ll continue to receive ample remuneration. Oftentimes, the work itself become like a pileup of cars on a highway, stagnation becomes normal, but this is seen as laudable because I’m involved in good old fashion work in the Spirit of the Pilgrims from all the way back then. Never mind that they were adventurous in what they did. They had a work ethic but it was coupled with adventure.
Soon, I am heavily invested in concepts such as these, and I begin to have the same views and vantage points on my prayer life or just how prayer might work. If I work at it, I’ll get better, and prayer is a labor of love, there is no disagreement about that. . A traffic jam in my prayer life might be a good sign, with work is piling up, I’ve go so much to do, how good of me to have this terrific work load, I must be an important member of the prayer community.
But from the vantage point of the power of prayer, what do I really know? Do I really know exactly what kind of push or effort I make towards prayer is bringing about in the realm of power? Do I really know where the multiplication of the loaves is in this prayer?
The disciples made the request of helping feed the flock. One request resulting with the multiplication of the loaves in that very scene.
I might be viewing my prayers as laborious, lugging along the highway, fighting my way thru the traffic, while it might be like arising smoothly over an open highway with no obstacles at all. It might not be matter of desperate pleas that gets me the power, but one simple brief prayer said only once.
God may give it to you
Pentecost Sunday Prayer by Peter Menkin
Pentecost Sunday Prayer by Peter Menkin
Notes from Peter Menkin blog as introduction:
If you recall, I wrote a poem about Pentecost and referenced the God of the Old Testament. One would usually make the poetic statement I made referencing the Trinity or Christ. I feel I need to explain myself, and here is a quote from a book titled, “Introduction to Theology” by Owen C. Thomas and Ellen K. Wondra. It is a book one would find in an Episcopal Seminary course, and was suggested by Father Tierney who is an Episcopal Priest. The poem I refer to is “Pentecost Sunday Prayer.”
The quote:
“First, it is clear that the God attested in the Old Testament is one, a unity, and not a plurality. But second, it is also clear that God of the Old Testament is not a simple unity, but a complex, organic, or differentiated unity. All the anthropomorphisms of the Old Testament interpret the unity of Yahweh on the analogy of the unity of the human self. Furthermore, certain divine attributes or powers, such as Spirit, Word, and Wisdom, are distinguished and tend to be personalized and hypostatized. These terms refer to extensions of God’s personal presence and powerful activity in relation to the world. They are not systematicallyrelated in the Old Testament, and they overlap in function. But they point to a differentiation in the Godhead that is to some extent analogous to the New Testament differentiation among the terms Father, Son, and Spirit. In the New Testament, the Old Testament terms Word and Wisdom are applied to Christ, and Old Testament texts concerning the Spirit of God are applied to the Holy Spirit. In other words, the New Testament authors were able to understand the relation of the Son and the Spirit to the Father in a way roughly analogous to how the Old Testament authors understood the relation of Word, Spirit, and Wisdom to Yahweh.”
I chose the imagery of the Exodus from the Old Testament to say that we are liberated by our God, Christ, and that he brings us to freedom. In any event, I hope you enjoyed that poem “Pentecost Sunday Prayer” about the Holy Spirit bringing us a new freedom in Christ, liberating us. It is not my usual thing to make a sermon or homily in these notes, so I will stop here and let that poem posted previously speak for itself.
“Pentecost Sunday Prayer”
Spring has certainly come to this town where I live, North of San Francisco across the Golden Gate Bridge. The second poem posted today is about Spring, and though this month will mark Summertime, I can still feel Spring. The poem itself was written in 2001, and it has never been published but is now here for you, reader.
The first poem is one from 2002 and though posted on a writer’s workshop, elicited no comments. Otherwise, I would fill you in on the comments and maybe post those with the poem on Pentecost. By the way, I have trouble spelling “Pentecost” every year. And every year I look it up on the Brittanica website because they have a Merriam-Webster Dictionary.
Because I spell it wrong, it doesn’t find the word. I suggest to the publishers of the Brittanica site that they create the dictionary so that misspelled words can find the right spelling. Is that so hard? It is by a process of illimination that I get the right spelling.
Pentecost Sunday Prayer (revise)
by Peter Menkin — 2002
For I am empty and forlorn,
so I hope and pray.
Tongues of language and flames.
Lord.
I search; let me
welcome the Holy Spirit.
The God who brought
us out of Egypt to freedom;
let God do this emancipation:
accept and welcome,
and let us receive the Spirit.
Reach out, lift the heart,
have faith that the Spiritfire
comes settling in, penetrating us:
THE Ministry of Prayer Has Been the Secret And Power of All of God’s People
THE Ministry of Prayer Has Been the Secret And Power of All of God’s People
“Prayer should be the breath of our breathing, the thought of our thinking, the soul of our feeling, and the life of our living, the sound of our hearing, the growth of our growing.” Prayer in its magnitude is length without end, width without bounds, height without top, and depth without bottom. Illimitable in its breadth, exhaustless in height, fathomless in depths and infinite in extension.”-HOMER W. HODGE
“THE ministry of prayer” has been the peculiar characteristic of all of God’s people (saints). This has been the secret of their power. The energy and the soul of their work has been the closet. The need for help outside of man being is so great. Because man’s natural failure to always judge kindly, justly, and truly, and to act the Golden Rule, so prayer is enjoined by Christ to enable man to act in all these things according to the Divine will. By prayer, the ability is secured to feel the law of love, to speak according to the law of love, and to do everything in harmony with the law of love.
God is our Father, so God will help us. We need God’s good things to help us to “do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly before God.” We have to have Divine help to act brotherly, wisely, nobly, to judge truly and charitably. God’s help to do all these things, in God’s, way is secured by prayer. “Ask, and ye shall receive; seek, and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you.”
In the wonderful productivity of Christian graces and duties, the result of giving ourselves wholly to God, as recorded in the twelfth chapter of Romans, we have the words, “Continuing instant in prayer,” preceded by “rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation,” followed by, “Distributing to the necessity of the (people) saints, given to hospitality.” Paul as a result writes as if these rich and rare graces and unselfish duties, so sweet, bright, generous, and unselfish, had for their center and source the ability to pray.
This is the same word which is used in the prayer of the disciples which ushered in Pentecost with all of its rich and glorious blessings of the Holy Spirit. In Colossians, Paul presses the word into the service of prayer again, “Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving.” The word in its background and root means strong, the ability to stay, and persevere steadfast, to hold fast and firm, to give constant attention to.
In Acts, chapter six, it is translated, “Give ourselves continually to prayer.” There is in it constancy, courage, unflinching perseverance. It means giving such marked attention to, and such deep concern to a thing, as will make it obvious and controlling.
This is an advance in demand on “continue.” Prayer is to be nonstop, without intermission, diligently, no check in desire, in spirit or in act. The spirit and the life must always be in the attitude of prayer. The knees may not always be bended, the lips may not always be speaking with words of prayer, but the spirit is always in the act and communication of prayer.
There should not be any adjustments of life or spirit for closet hours. The closet spirit should sweetly rule and adjust all times and occasions. Our activities and work should be performed in the same spirit which makes our devotion and which makes our closet time sacred. “Without intermission, continuously, attentively,” describes a richness, energy, ceaseless strength and fullness of effort; like the full and exhaustless and spontaneous flow of an artesian stream. Touch the man of God who consequently understands prayer, at any point, at any time, and a full current of prayer is seen flowing from him.
But all these indescribable benefits, of which the Holy Spirit is made to us the conveyor, go back in their character and all the results are because of prayer. Not on a little process and a measly routine prayer is the coming of the Holy Spirit and of His great grace inured, but on prayer that set on fire, by an unquenchable desire, with such a sense of need as cannot be without, with a fixed determination which will not let go, and which will never faint till it wins the greatest good and gets

Urgent Prayer Request
Urgent Prayer Request
You lead a normal life; have your ups and downs, experience better and worse moments, until one day everything collapses. It can be a doctor’s diagnosis after a routine blood test, or a shocking discovery about your seemingly innocent teenager’s activities, it can be the devastating announcement that you won’t be able to have children, or a sudden unexpected bankruptcy.
All these sorts of events can shake your world which seemed so steady just a while ago. Suddenly you feel a strong desire to send an urgent prayer request, for God to help you out of your miserable situation.
All at once everything that seemed so important just yesterday seems insignificant. All that you acquired loses its importance. All the tools you thought you had and will help you overcome everything, lose their importance. All that is left is your bare soul and fragile body standing there before God and sending him an urgent prayer request and a cry for Heaven’s assistance.
It’s at these moments that you do not only know in your mind but rather truly understands with your heart the concept of human futility in the face of the greatness of God.
Though it might seem pathetic that you recognize God’s existence only when you feel helpless and send him your urgent prayer request at times of despair, you should always remember that God is awaiting your prayers and is willing to accept them at any time as long as they come from the depths of your heart.
Moreover, you should take to heart that it is God who had sent you all the good you encountered up until now and He is also the One who sent you this sudden trouble. It could be that the main reason for this current problem is that God wants to wake you up and remind you who the Creator is and to whom you should turn at happy times as well as at difficult moments.
So don’t hesitate send your urgent prayer request and The Almighty will answer you with mercy and blessings for a better future.
Need immediate help from Heaven? Feel the urge to ask for God’s assistance? Send us your urgent prayer request and we will pray on your behalf at the holiest place on earth – the Western Wall in Jerusalem.
Turn Your Life Around With the Seasons
Turn Your Life Around With the Seasons
Spring – THINK
CBT
Forgive - Focus - Patience
Spring
It is the season to forgive, focus and have patience.
The season of spring at its core, is about self reliance , accepting and then taking responsibility for everything in ones life up to this point. Realize that whatever you have created is yours, own it, because you have attracted it to you, on some level you were isolating at the same energy level as it.
If you want to change what occurs for you from this moment forth then you must take 100% responsibility for everything that happens to you (even the bad) and realize that you are the person that must change. And in realizing this you come to the conclusion that you are a strong person capable of great achievements.
It is in this season you realize you must go the rest of the path alone
Because it is the “thought” season the modality to use in the season of spring is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (C.B.T)
CBT believes that our thoughts, feelings and actions are all interconnected. So the way that you choose to think about something will shape the way you feel for something.
Often what shapes our thoughts if we are not fully aware and present is past conditioning. Recognize each thought for what it is at this moment in your life, not in the future or in the past. Recognize it, be fully present to it, and own it, after all it’s your thoughts!
What are three things you think about your present self and situation?
Self
1.
2.
3.
Situation
1.
2.
3.
How do these thoughts of yourself affect your feelings?
How do your thoughts of your situation affect your feelings?
How do the thoughts and feelings for yourself and your situation affect your behaviors?
Are your behaviors aligned with your goals?
Yes/ No
If they are not aligned with your goals, what feelings and thoughts do you feel you need to change?
What you think reinforces what you feel. How you feel influences the actions you take or do not take.
Over time the main things you think about become your central beliefs. Our central beliefs are so fixed in us that any evidence that does not support them is instantly dismissed.
Some of our central beliefs are justified and keep us safe while others may not be.
Recognize when you are not taking action, procrastinating, or taking the wrong action and ask yourself “What does a person have to believe in order for this to be true?”
Your next question would be “Is there any logical reason to believe this to be true?”
If there is not then you know you must change your thoughts.
A good idea to become aware and familiar with your thoughts and belief is to keep a self awareness journal.
The secret is to:
1) Firstly be aware of your thoughts
2) Rewire your thoughts by writing out daily the thoughts you would prefer to think and carry those preferred thoughts with you as affirmation cards. Refer to them throughout the day.
Realize that the self defeating thoughts you now have once served you. But now the time has come to move on and replace them with more self empowering, uplifting and energizing thoughts.
The principles that we may abide by in Spring as I previously mentioned are:
1) Forgiveness
2) Focus
3) Patience
The Principle of Forgiveness
You must learn to discern and forgive those who have hurt you through your past seasonal cycles.
Who ever has hurt you, you must realize that harbouring hurt, guilt, anger, resentment or other negative emotions don’t serve you.
Just know that you deserve the very best from yourself and your life.
If
