Make Sure That You Have Everything You Need to Be Born Again and Spiritually Fruitful
There are times when God comes and drops a little suffering into our lives, yes, even into the lives of disciples of Jesus.
We may think that we do not need that, but God sees that we do. Suffering is part of being a disciple of Jesus Christ and this needs to be taught, so that when it comes along, as surely it will, people will not be overly surprised.
During his twenty five year ministry Paul wept often. He is honest, open and unashamed, when revealing his emotions.
This is part of normal Christian experience, and it becomes very real as we serve in the Kingdom of God.
Read and study that highly charged emotional scenario at the end of Acts Chapter 20 in the New Testament when he is bidding these dear Ephesian elders farewell.
Paul is returning to Jerusalem. He discerns that something serious awaits him, and it is going to be sorely painful. Whatever it might be, he is going to face it, and like Jesus Christ, his Saviour and Lord, he sets his face to go to Jerusalem.
Jesus gave this man a job to do, and he is determined to finish the course, remaining faithful to the end.
To Paul, the work of the kingdom of God is more important than holding onto his own life.
Reading between the lines, you can almost hear these Ephesian elders trying to influence Paul, to remain with them and not return to Jerusalem. There is no need to take such a risk, placing yourself in physical danger.
Paul was not a weak character, who could be persuaded to give in and compromise, not even when sensing that imprisonment and other hardships lay ahead.
He positively insists that you dear men cannot make me change my mind. I have preached to you, and taught you all that God wants me to teach, but you shall not see me again.”
Paul proclaimed the whole word of God, omitting nothing. Paul invested all he could in the lives of those leaders.
People need the whole word. For over forty years I have sought to teach the whole Word of God to the people of God. Disciples of Jesus Christ need meat so that they might grow and develop and mature, and that is why I encourage believers to be in the Word of God every day. Read part of the Bible every day! I have tried to do this since I was eight years of age.
People need the lot. People need all that God has to say and everything Jesus offers and provides, in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, whether they initially realise it or not.
Make sure you have all God wants you to have, and if not, then ask. If you are aware that something is missing and if you think that something might be important ask someone who will be able to answer you in such a manner whereby you are totally satisfied.
Pastors and leaders and elders are called to be good spiritual midwives and every vital aspect involved in being born again should be part of every believers experience.
